EVEN IF this mika clearly isn't the mika from where he came from he's still. desperately attached to him and loves him so much and would throw himself in front of a bus to stop mika from doing his. dumb-mika things. HE. REALLY LOVES MIKA. and is willing to do anything for him. aside from, you know, stop being a rude little shit to him. he'll still do that. yuu doesn't know how to not do that. BUT HE DOES IT BECAUSE HE LOVES HIM AND HE REALLY CAN'T HELP THE TSUN. but he also regonizes mika is a piece of shit who lies way too much and there's. well. he doesn't trust mika as much as he used to? because he expects mika to fuck off and be dumb no matter what yuu says and so he. just waits for mika to make dumb moves SO HE CAN GO PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE and tell him how wrong that is. WHICH IS TO SAY IT'S JUST AS OBVIOUS FROM MIKA'S SIDE?! Yuu might not be HIS Yuu, so to speak, but he's still Yuu and possesses everything that makes Mikas adore Yuus. YUU IS PRECIOUS. So he'll do anything to protect him! He's INCREDIBLY HAPPY that a human Yuu exists and didn't have to be turned into something he hates! He's still really concerned about what this Yuu has been through, too. Because it is Yuu who in Mika's au that inspired Mika to KEEP GOING and BE MORE SHOUNEN and he's afraid of seeing Yuu broken. He wants Yuu to depend on him more, like how he's depended on Yuu.
Besides that, Yuu is his family, and more than that the person who he really connected with and loved and was equals with when they were younger. Being accepted by Yuu was always a big deal to Mika, to get that affection returned moreso. He doesn't have the whole thing about being needed like Yuu does, but Mika DOES have a need to be with the people he loves and to protect them so he can have a place where he is welcome and being able to KEEP that and DO RIGHT by it!! He's very concious of what the previous Mikas have done in Court for that reason, and what impressions they've given and he's a little unnerved about it especially when it comes to being with Yuu.
That said: He's still pretty overwhelmed that kissing and so on IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING? I mean Mika was no virgin like Yuu was but he still was perfectly happy to just be head over heels for Yuu forever without doing anything but being best bros, and he never really expected that stuff from Yuu either. Now that he is ALLOWED to do that stuff with Yuu though, he's totally going for it because Mika recognizes he is a greedy person with a lot of bottled up desires at this point. And it's different from Mika's past experiences if only because he actually TRUSTS YUU A LOT. But yeah he suspects Yuu is wary of Mika because Mika makes Bad Decisions and he can't blame Yuu for it, even if it hurts him. And it's not like Mika 100% trusts Yuu not to do something completely dumb either.
Also their being pieces of shit at each other is part of their chemistry tbh. NEITHER OF THEM CAN STOP THAT. So yes Mika basically has a ton of dumb puppy love for Yuu in return AND IT NEVER WENT AWAY EVEN AFTER 4 YEARS WHUP. It's just how it goes.

HIS TEAMMATE WITH SNAKE HAIR . WHO HE LOVES A LOT even though she tried to bite him to death or something at first. ALYA IS. a very dedicated person once he sets his mind on something! and he's set his mind on protecting his team and loving his team and being the best teammate he can possibly be. WHICH. SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE WAY HE TREATS BARGHEST. because that's exactly what he intends to do with all of them. love them and protect them and be the best soldier-knight-teammate.
He's protective of Ophi in particular because she. she reminds him a little of himself but nnnnot a lot. They're both monsters, they've both got a lot of problems ( with humans. and Yuu's vampire problems but ), and he's. really determined to be a good family member to her to try to make up for all she's been through. He would do basically anything to reach that goal, too.
And he's soso happy that she smiled at him! He remembers back when he was tiny and bitter and never smiled and denied having feelings at all so seeing her be that expressionate around him was REALLY GREAT and he's REALLY HAPPY FOR HER and really hopes that they can continue to grow together.
